Educational Background:
I graduated from Chapman University in 2001 with an M.A. in Psychology, emphasizing Marriage, Family, & Child Counseling. I have had extensive post-graduate training since then, and continue to broaden my skills and knowledge.
Qualifications:
I have been practicing as a psychotherapist since 2000 when beginning my first practicum experience while in graduate school. I was licensed as a Marriage & Family Therapist in 2006 after years of clinical supervision. (CA license #MFC43774).
I have had experience treating individuals, couples, families, children, adolescents, and groups with issues such as:
- depression
- anxiety
- suicide
- marital and relationship difficulties
- parenting problems
- preparing for/adjusting to birth or adoption
- impact of divorce
- trauma
- abuse
- anger management
- difficulties with major transitions in life
I am involved with professional organizations that keep me at the top of my field:
- I am currently on the Board of Directors of my state's professional association, California Association of Marriage & Family Therapists (CAMFT).
- I hold Clinical Memberships in the California Association of Marriage & Family Therapists (CAMFT) and Postpartum Support International (PSI).
- I am the SoCal Outreach Coordinator for Postpartum Support International (PSI) with the focus of educating the community, medical and mental health professionals through providing workshops and trainings about perinatal and postpartum mood and anxiety disorders.
- I teach parenting classes to divorcing moms and dads, and their significant others, through the Kids First program, held at Chapman University in Orange, CA.
- I also teach undergraduate and graduate courses in the College of Social & Behavioral Sciences for the University of Phoenix.
